Freeport School District 145 will have four (4) available seats on our seven-member Board of Education. The seats will be filled following the April 4, 2023 election. Candidates who are elected will fill four-year terms expiring in April 2027.
To be eligible to serve as a school board member, you must be, on the date of election:

a citizen of the United States
-
at least 18 years of age
-
a registered voter
-
a resident of the State of Illinois and Freeport School District 145 for at least one year immediately preceding the election
A member shall not be a child sex offender as defined in Section 11-9.3 of the Criminal Code of 2012 and cannot serve as a school trustee. (105 ILCS 5/10-10)
The school board election is nonpartisan, and board candidates do not run under political party affiliation. More information on qualification and other detailed information for school board candidates can be found on the IASB website at:

Candidates for the office of school board can begin to circulate nominating petitions for signatures beginning Tuesday, September 20, 2022. The responsibilities of school board elections are handled by the County Clerk. You may contact the Stephenson County Clerk’s office for questions relating to the election.
